Hon. Kweku George Ricketts Hagan Appointed as Board Chairman of Ghana Revenue Authority

A new era of strategic revenue mobilization and public accountability is underway at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), following the swearing-in of its newly constituted nine-member board. The inaugural ceremony, held in Accra, was officiated by the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson.

At the helm of the new board is Hon. George Ricketts Hagan, former Deputy Minister of Finance and the current Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South Constituency in the Central Region. Hon. Ricketts Hagan brings to the role a wealth of experience in finance, governance, and public policy.

In his remarks, Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson highlighted the pivotal role of the GRA in driving Ghana’s economic growth. He underscored the urgent need to scale up domestic revenue generation to sustain national develop

ment and reduce reliance on external financing.

“Government policies are only as effective as the revenue that funds them,” he noted. “We must now look within, harness our resources, and uphold integrity in the revenue system.”

Dr. Forson charged the newly inaugurated board to tackle border smuggling head-on, uphold transparency in tax administration, and lead the GRA with vision, discipline, and dedication.

The formation of this new board comes at a critical time when Ghana is seeking to streamline its revenue systems and expand its fiscal space to meet developmental priorities. With seasoned policymakers, legal minds, and finance experts on board, the GRA is poised for renewed momentum in delivering on its mandate.
